About the Role:
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Database Administrator to support critical database systems, including Oracle Exadata and MSSQL Server. This position plays a vital role in managing cloud migrations, disaster recovery processes, and database performance tuning. Ideal candidates will have extensive experience in Oracle database administration, AWS cloud migration, and on-call production support for large-scale environments.
This is a contract position requiring on-site work in Austin, TX, and occasional weekend support for maintenance or release activities. The role is not eligible for sponsorship and requires candidates who can work on a W2 basis.
Responsibilities:
- Manage Oracle and MSSQL databases, including installation, configuration, patching, and security administration.
- Support cloud migration efforts, particularly involving Oracle databases on AWS infrastructure.
- Ensure database performance optimization through performance tuning, logical and physical modeling, and capacity planning.
- Develop tools to administer and maintain multiple test and development environments.
- Provide 24/7 on-call support for production systems and participate in disaster recovery planning and execution.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues.
- Ensure compliance with EIR Accessibility standards and database security protocols.
- Assist with database benchmarking, threshold testing, and system recovery processes.
Key Requirements:
- 8+ years of hands-on experience managing Oracle databases (Version 19 preferred) on Linux systems.
- Expertise in Oracle Real Application Clusters (RAC), Active Data Guard, and Exadata systems.
- Strong SQL, PL/SQL scripting, and shell scripting skills.
- Experience administering MSSQL Server and EDB PostgreSQL databases.
- Proven expertise in cloud migration, especially with Oracle databases on AWS infrastructure.
- Solid experience with disaster recovery processes and on-call support in a high-availability environment.
- Working knowledge of Remedy, ITSM, PPM, or ServiceNow is a plus.
